He was a star of sports, even before the football heroes of Bern: the unique Hermann Buhl. In 1953, he conquered the 8,125-meter high summit of Nanga Parbat solo, and in 1957, he was one of the four first ascenders of Broad Peak. As part of the new edition of his book, his diaries from both expeditions are being published in full for the first time - a sensation in mountain literature.
