Richard Bartz (born 1976 in Munich) is a German techno, house, and electro producer. He is the founder, owner, and main artist of the record label Kurbel Records and performs internationally as a live act. Bartz is considered one of the co-founders of Munich techno, alongside DJ Hell, a genre-influencing music style. He lives and works in Munich. Bartz attended his first EBM and techno parties in Munich starting in 1988. Through visits to the record store Optimal in Munich, he met Peter Wacha, alias Upstart, the founder of Disko B, and later DJ Hell. His first releases under the alias Acid Scout on Disko B followed in 1993. The following year, Bartz released his first album, Safari. In 1994, he produced DJ Hell's long player "Geteert und gefedert" and a track for the Albino EP released in 1995. Both continued their collaboration in the following years.
