The acquisition of mathematical modeling skills has been mandatory in Germany since their inclusion in the educational standards for students of all school types and levels. Susanne Brand empirically compares a holistic and a disaggregated modeling approach within the framework of the intervention project ERMO to promote modeling skills. Her results indicate that the effectiveness of the two examined approaches should be viewed in a differentiated manner, particularly concerning the performance level and heterogeneity of learning groups.
