Adam Dario Keel
German, Lambert M. Surhone, Miriam T. Timpledon, Susan F. Marseken, 2010Product details
Adam Keel (born 1924 in Lugano) is a figurative contemporary painter and paper cutter. He is a self-taught artist and is associated with the art movement of Outsider Art. In the 1950s and 1960s, he favored pastel and tempera techniques, while in the 1970s, he focused on modern, realistic pencil drawing. In the 1980s and 1990s, he developed an avant-garde approach to paper cutting that gained significant attention in the art world. Since the 1990s, he has transferred the graphic decisiveness of paper cutting to his drawings. In addition to visual art, Adam Keel has created objects from wood and metal. He is the son of the expressionist painter Carl Eugen Keel and Emma Keel-Schär. In 1961, he married textile artist and educator Ria Keel-Traber. He lives in Rebstein in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley.
