Experiential equine therapy is a therapeutic approach that focuses on the present experience through contact with horses. Special attention is given to the physical, social, psychological-emotional, and identity-forming areas of experience. Based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs, Rogers' person-centered approach, Gendlin's concept of focusing, and insights from animal-assisted therapies, particularly with horses, Kurt Schley developed experiential equine therapy, which is described in a practical manner for the first time in this book. The therapeutic process, practical exercises, and exemplary cases are presented with illustrative images.
