Adelheid Biesecker, born on June 21, 1942, in Berlin, is a retired professor of economics at the University of Bremen. She studied economics at the Free University of Berlin and earned her doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.) in 1969. In 1971, she moved to the newly founded University of Bremen, where she served as a professor of economic theory, with a particular focus on its socio-historical conditions of emergence, in the Department of Economics until 2004. Until her retirement, she co-directed the Institute for Institutional Economics and Social Economics with two colleagues.
