Product details

Please note that the content of this book mainly consists of articles that are available online from Wikipedia or other free sources. Heidi Schmid, after her marriage known as Adelheid Grundmann-Schmid, was born on December 5, 1938, in Klagenfurt and was a foil fencing champion in the 1960s. She won the gold medal in her sport at the 1960 Olympics in Rome. At the age of 13, Heidi Schmid discovered her love for fencing. Just a year later, she competed in the German Youth Championships and finished third in her first attempt. She was the German champion in women's foil individual competition in 1957, 1959, and from 1964 to 1968. On September 1, 1960, the then-student won Olympic gold at the Palazzo dei Congressi after defeating Romanian Maria Vicol with a score of 4:3. There was a celebratory reception upon her return to Augsburg.
