Adolf Bierbrauer
German, Lambert M. Surhone, Mariam T. Tennoe, Susan F. Henssonow, 2010Product details
Adolf Bierbrauer (born 1915 in Düsseldorf) is a German artist and physician. His well-known works include his hypnosis and somnambulistic paintings as well as his sculptures. In 2000, Adolf Bierbrauer was introduced to a wider audience with his work at the NRW-Forum and the presentation of his monograph in Düsseldorf. Particularly impressive are his hypnosis paintings from the 1950s and his somnambulistic works created over the last three decades. The central focus of his work is the human being. While his early works feature pure human representations, such as portraits and nudes, he increasingly delved into the hidden aspects of the human psyche throughout his career as an artist, physician, and psychotherapist.
