Adolf Diekmann (December 18, 1914; June 29, 1944, in Normandy) was a war criminal and a German officer of the Waffen-SS, last holding the rank of SS-Sturmbannführer. As a member of the SS Panzer Division Das Reich, he ordered the murder of the inhabitants of the village of Oradour-sur-Glane near Limoges (France) on June 10, 1944; 642 people, including 207 children and 254 women, lost their lives in this massacre. In later reports and court proceedings, he was often referred to as Otto Diekmann, which is attributed to a confusion with the first name of another accused, Otto Kahn. Before his deployment in the war, he was a lecturer at the SS Junker Schools.
