Adolf Dietrich
German, Lambert M. Surhone, Mariam T. Tennoe, Susan F. Henssonow, 2010Product details
Adolf Dietrich (November 9, 1877 in Berlingen; July 4, 1957 there) was a Swiss painter associated with the New Objectivity movement and a major representative of naive painting.
Since childhood, Adolf Dietrich was fascinated by nature and animals. He owned many stuffed animals that he would draw. He often depicted his garden or Lake Constance and also painted portraits and various still lifes.
Adolf Dietrich did not have formal training as a painter. This is evident in his works, where, for example, the perspective is often incorrectly represented. He always drew very precisely, which makes his paintings very realistic. His style is categorized by art historians as belonging to both naive painting and New Objectivity.
