Adolf Ernst (born September 14, 1940, in Althütte) is a German politician (FDP) in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. After attending secondary school (1955-59) and graduating from high school, Adolf Ernst worked as a lathe operator at the Magdeburg measuring instruments and fittings factory. In the 1960s, he qualified as a graduate engineer in plant and apparatus engineering. From 1967 to 1986, he worked as a welding engineer at VEB IMO Merseburg, from 1987 to 1988 as production manager for sanitary technology in Laucha, and from 1988 to 1990 as production manager and welding engineer in boiler construction at Billroda. Since 1990, Adolf Ernst has been a member of the district council of the Burgenlandkreis, and since 1994, he has been the FDP parliamentary group leader in the district council of the Burgenlandkreis. From 1990 to 2001, he served as the mayor of the town of Bad Bibra.
