Adolf von Hatzfeld (September 3, 1892 in Olpe; July 25, 1957 in Bonn) was a German writer. He belonged to the Westphalian noble family von Hatzfeld. His father was a district judge. Hatzfeld grew up in Hamm and Düsseldorf. In 1911, he passed his high school diploma in Emmerich and then began a commercial apprenticeship in Hamburg, which he soon abandoned. In the autumn of 1911, he started officer training as a cadet in Bückeburg. While he was in detention due to a dispute, he attempted suicide with a pistol in July 1913. The gunshot to his head resulted in his blindness. Adolf von Hatzfeld's work, which is heavily influenced by his blindness as well as his travels and acquaintances with fellow writers, includes novels.
