Please note that the content of this book mainly consists of articles that are available online from Wikipedia or other free sources. Adolf Gessner (February 4, 1864, in Friedberg, Hesse; January 20, 1903, in Erlangen) was a German gynecologist. Gessner studied medicine in Giessen and Erlangen starting in the winter semester of 1883/84. As a member of the Corps Teutonia Giessen, he served as chairman of the Kösener Congress in 1887. After earning his doctorate, he became an assistant physician at the University Women's Clinic in Berlin in 1893 and a private lecturer in Erlangen in 1897. In 1901, he was appointed full professor and director of the University Women's Clinic and the midwifery school in Erlangen, succeeding Richard Frommel. Under Gessner's leadership, the University Women's Clinic was significantly expanded in 1902 with the inauguration of the west wing.
