Childlike approaches to the world are strongly influenced by aesthetics. For early childhood education, this brings the aesthetic experiences and perception patterns of children into focus—also in relation to the developmental tasks of children. The volume opens pathways to the aesthetic actions and abilities of children and reflects on and interprets their aesthetic perception and appropriation processes. From this, action and practice concepts for the early childhood and primary education sectors are developed, designed to enable children to engage in learning processes through their aesthetic experiences. The volume presents interdisciplinary approaches to one of the central themes of current early and elementary education, grounded in theory, empirically questioning, and practice-oriented.
