A.F. Marcus & J. L. Schönlein
German, ChristophSchindler, GerhardAumüller, 2016Product details
The lives of Adalbert Friedrich Marcus (1753-1816) and Johann Lucas Schönlein (1793-1864) encompass the Enlightenment, the Napoleonic era, the German Revolution, and the German-German War - events that shaped the lives of these significant physicians, who are particularly connected to the city of Bamberg. Marcus rose to become the court physician of Prince-Bishop Franz Ludwig von Erthal and initiated important social-medical projects. Schönlein became one of the founders of scientific medicine, a politically persecuted figure during the Vormärz, the court physician to Friedrich Wilhelm IV, and a promoter of art and culture in his Franconian homeland.
