In contrast to the other periods of her short life, little was known for a long time about Annemarie Schwarzenbach's stay in Africa in 1941/42. The publication of the posthumous novel "The Miracle of the Tree" in 2011 marked the first step in directing attention to this creative phase of the author. The present volume presents all the other works written during her trip to Africa - the articles and essays published during her lifetime, as well as previously unpublished texts, including poems, a report, and Marc. Annemarie Schwarzenbach traveled to Belgian Congo in 1941 and attempted to connect with the operations of France libre from there, but her actions were limited by political suspicions. Nevertheless, she was able to publish around two dozen reports in the Swiss press.
