Current reports and societal discussions highlight the pressing issue of aggression, violence, and the radicalization of children and adolescents. In addition to violent acts in public spaces, educational institutions are challenged in their dealings with "difficult" children and teenagers. The developmental trajectories of children and adolescents reveal how complex, multifaceted, and unique the paths can be that ultimately lead to radicalization, terrorism, and violence. Aggressive, violent, and radicalized behavior among children and adolescents is, in this understanding, never merely passive or defective, but always the result of an active coping process with environmental experiences. Such a perspective requires a focus on individual cases to uncover subjectively meaningful, biographically relevant relational experiences. It is significant to recognize this.
