This work contributes to the understanding of how insights from information provision and its individual use in decision-making during subway emergency situations can be utilized to empower actors to act more effectively. The current approach to threat mitigation and the measures applied are examined in terms of the role of information. Furthermore, the availability and need for information in the considered application case are analyzed. Insights from information provision and individual information processing are compared. Based on this, a concept for holistic information use in emergency situations in the subway is developed, prototypically implemented, and evaluated for its benefits. Results show that efficient information use makes a significant contribution.
