March 1947. A time between war and peace. For Freddy and his friends, school has started again. In the afternoons, they roam through the meadows, over to the moor. The refugee boy Günter joins them as well. He clings to them almost desperately. "He's not right in the head," the boys say about him. Because Günter is different. Freddy and the other boys mock him, tormenting and humiliating him wherever they can. But then they become afraid that Günter might tell the adults about them - and they come up with a dreadful plan.
