Product details

Albert Speer succeeded Paul Ludwig Troost as Adolf Hitler's chief architect. He increasingly controlled decisions regarding construction throughout the Reich. In 1942, he became the Minister of Armaments. His buildings and designs remain the epitome of Nazi architecture to this day. Since 1934, Albert Speer earned the trust of Adolf Hitler and soon became his preferred architect. He designed monumental structures at the Nuremberg Rally Grounds, the New Reich Chancellery in Berlin, and planned a redesign of the capital on an unprecedented scale. No architect had ever wielded such power before. Albert Speer was a defendant at the Nuremberg Trials and was sentenced to 20 years in prison as a war criminal. Speer's career, his architectural oeuvre, his collaboration with Hitler, and the influence of his memoirs on architecture are notable aspects of his legacy.
