In the port of Marseille, time stands still. At the outer mole, the Aldebaran is docked, whose owner has gone bankrupt. On board are three men. They resist and refuse to accept leaving the freighter. Where else would they go? Abdul Aziz, the captain, is Lebanese; Diamantis, his first officer, is Greek. The radio operator, the lively Nedim, is from Turkey. While they wait without any real hope of being able to set sail again, they begin to talk, these sailors who have grown accustomed to silence.
