In March 1998, actor Josef Bierbichler received the Gertrud Eysoldt Ring 1997 for his portrayal of Kasimir in Horváth's Kasimir and Karoline. Josef Bierbichler then passed the award on to Christoph Schlingensief. The volume includes Josef Bierbichler's speech at the award ceremony in the Parktheater of Bensheim, as well as a conversation that Bierbichler, Schlingensief, Berlin journalist Harald Martenstein, and editor Alexander Wewerka had in April in Berlin, along with an essay by Diedrich Diederichsen about Schlingensief's (party) theater.
