The texts collected in this volume by Richard Müller, Rosa Luxemburg, Max Tobler, Franz Pfemfert, Ernst Toller, Otto Rühle, Gustav Landauer, Erich Mühsam, and others illustrate the discussions among the radical left of that time, who presented council democracy and socialism as a revolutionary counter-concept against the party rule of an SPD-led National Assembly. At the same time, they document the revolutionary events in Germany from November 1918 to mid-1919.
