For a long time, gynecology has been neglected in the history of medicine. Many medical discussions have also been overlooked by the vibrant women's history that has been active for years, or they are not placed in direct context with the individuals involved. This study aims to address both shortcomings. Through the biography of the Austrian gynecologist and sex researcher Helene Stourzh-Andere (1890-1966), it presents a panoramic view of medical misdirections, sexual concepts, and images of women between 1920 and 1965. Following the various activities of Stourzh-Andere, the reader's attention is drawn to sex education, constitutional typology, and hormone theory. It becomes clear what exceptional position the protagonist held and why she is nearly forgotten today. The book is more than just a biography; it is a key to gaining insight into an apparent history.
