After World War I, a unique modernization and design project emerged in Frankfurt, which has entered architectural history as "The New Frankfurt." The Museum of Applied Arts expands the perspective on "The New Frankfurt" to include the field of design, focusing on typography and graphics in spring 2016. Frankfurt is home to milestones of modern visual design: for instance, the first popular reform typeface, Futura, was designed in the Main metropolis in the 1920s and began its worldwide triumph from here. After 1945, Frankfurt became a hotspot for typographic and advertising graphics, not least due to the establishment of American advertising agencies, publishers like Suhrkamp and S. Fischer, and the influence of the Kassel School of Poster Design - and it remains so today.
