In the context of the criticism of the Aristotelianism introduced in universities since the 12th century, Nicholas of Autrécourt attacks important theses of Aristotelian epistemology, psychology, natural philosophy, and metaphysics. From this, he calls for a departure from the study of books in order to pay attention to the things themselves and thus promote moral and social concerns.
