Franz Michalski, born in 1934, recounts the history and the dramatic rescue of his family during the Nazi era. His Catholic mother was persecuted as a Jew. The four-member family in a "mixed marriage" went into hiding in Wrocław in October 1944 and survived in Saxony and the Sudetenland with the help of brave supporters. In 2012, the Israeli memorial Yad Vashem decided to honor the rescuers of the Michalski family as "Righteous Among the Nations.".
