Fulminant, powerful, a synthesis of seriousness and laughter, pathos and irony. Nietzsche himself retrospectively described his Zarathustra as the pinnacle of his thought. With its colorful literary form that transcends the boundaries between poetry and prose, philosophy and fiction, it had a lasting impact on German literature. Nietzsche at Kröner Verlag has a tradition: Alfred Kröner founded the publishing house and went to Leipzig to unite Nietzsche's works under one roof. The result was, among other things, our paperback edition. However, it is high time to renovate our edition from the ground up, and Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra is the starting point. The new volume has been prepared by Felix Christen based on current scientific findings; his well-founded introduction, reflecting the latest research, as well as a timeline of Nietzsche's life and works, provide guidance.
