This book begins with twenty detailed and richly illustrated contributions about old apple varieties, ranging from the Dithmarscher Paradise apple to the Prinzen family and the Boskoop. Here, readers can not only learn interesting facts about various varieties but also read personal stories related to these apples and their historic locations. Further contributions discuss apple cultivation and the efforts to preserve this culture. Additionally, this book showcases the fruit models from the collection of the former agricultural school in Heide, which is one of the few remaining collections in the German-speaking world. Created in the 19th century and then forgotten, the history and significance of this cultural-historical rarity are described in the second part of the book, along with presentations of the individual models. In the third and final part, it concludes.
