One of the most well-known Swiss railway photographers is undoubtedly Peter Willen. In 1947, at the tender age of 15, he began his journey into railway photography. Initially, he captured Swiss railways and trams on film. However, it wasn't long before he ventured into neighboring countries, where steam traction was still part of everyday life. By the late 1950s, he had traveled to all continents of the world. His versatility in railway photography and his publications quickly made Peter Willen a recognized figure in the railway photography scene both domestically and internationally. From 1970 onwards, he also worked as an author, publishing several titles. His last publications were released by EK-Verlag. The new book in the series "Old Masters of Railway Photography" offers a glimpse into the extensive work of Peter Willen.
