Author: Günter Höhne

Günter Höhne, a specialist journalist and design expert, was born in 1943 in Zwickau. He worked as a teacher and school principal until 1968, after which he became a broadcast journalist. In the late 1970s, he was hired as a literature editor for the cultural political weekly newspaper Sonntag. In the mid-1980s, Secretary of State Kelm brought him to the Office for Industrial Design, where he served as editor-in-chief of the design magazine form+zweck from 1984 to 1989. After the end of the GDR, he worked as a freelance design journalist, collecting GDR design, the estates of GDR designers, and writing about them. In 2012, many of his collected objects in GDR design were acquired by the Neue Sammlung in the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich. Additionally, Höhne writes literary texts and has been awarded the Erzgebirgische Kammweg Literature Promotion Prize for his work. Günter Höhne was a friend of the artist Lutz Brandt, who reviewed and organized Brandt's estate and posthumously published the wonderful autobiography enriched with works from the author's artistic output.
