The melodies of O'Carolan are so beautiful that they cannot possibly be of this world. This statement about the Irish harpist and composer Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738) has inspired the guitar duo Morscheck and Burgmann to release another playbook for two guitars following "Duets for the Young (At Heart)." Since there are no accompaniment parts for the nearly 200 surviving melodies of O'Carolan, Morscheck and Burgmann have selected 20 of the most beautiful melodies, arranged them for guitar, and provided an accompaniment. O'Carolan's compositions are influenced by traditional Irish music and the courtly European Baroque music. The accompaniment parts by Morscheck and Burgmann highlight the beauty of the melodies in a very special way. The CD features all the pieces performed, providing an authentic representation.
