Product details

Impressive mountain backdrop, turquoise blue water - since the mid-19th century, Lake Attersee has been a place of longing for the bourgeoisie and a popular destination for the annual summer retreat. Industrialists, bankers, doctors, scholars, poets, musicians, artists, and eccentrics flocked to the towns of Unterach, Weissenbach, Steinbach, Attersee, or Seewalchen during the summer, including many prominent guests: Charlotte Wolter, Ignaz Brüll, Johannes Brahms, Felix Salten, Gustav Klimt, and Gustav Mahler, who were inspired by the lake to create great works, as well as numerous stars of the opera and cabaret stages, such as the star singer Maria Jeritza, who loved Unterach just as much as the librettist of "The Merry Widow," Victor Léon, or the soprano Hilde Güden. However, many people whose names have been forgotten also spent their summer months around Lake Attersee - in rented or self-built accommodations.
