Product details
A moving novel about a great love in turbulent times. Hamburg, 1926: At the still young university of the Hanseatic city, Richard and Paula are among the most talented medical students of their class. They share more than just a passion for the medical profession - they fall hopelessly in love with each other. When their twins Emilia and Georg are born after their marriage, their happiness is complete, even though little Georg is deaf. But then the National Socialists come to power, and the life of the young family changes fundamentally. Richard, who now works as a psychiatrist at the Langenhorn healing and care institution, cannot come to terms with the inhumane legislation of the Nazis, which also affects his deaf son. To protect his patients from euthanasia, he begins to create false reports. In doing so, he takes a great risk.
