Maddie Chester is determined to leave her hometown of Gansett Island, which she associates only with bad memories and ugly rumors. But then, on her way to work at McCarthy's Resort Hotel, where she has a job as a maid, she is hit by the town's beloved Mac McCarthy. He is back in town to help his father sell the family hotel and didn't plan to stay long. When Maddie is injured in the accident, he moves in to take care of her and help with her young son. He quickly realizes that his plans to stay on the island for just a short time are seriously jeopardized, and he may just be meant for love after all.
