Product details

A travel report: America - the primitive society of the future. Jean Baudrillard, on his journey through the country, is inspired by the immense urban and natural landscapes to engage in philosophical reflections, much like his intellectual predecessors Crèvecoeur and Tocqueville. For him, too, it is about their symbolic value for America as a realized utopia. However, this issue presents itself differently today than it did two hundred years ago: once, it was about the pursuit of happiness within an ideal form of government. By the end of the twentieth century, the political, material, and sexual dimensions of freedom in America have been realized to an almost obscene extent, leading to the question: "What do you do after the orgy?" Have we reached an end of history? Baudrillard finds himself at a loss after the bankruptcy of all major social theoretical approaches.
