Product details

"At the Ark at Eight" is one of the major successes of children's theater in recent years. It was awarded the German Children's Theater Prize in 2006. In the jury's statement, it says: "At the Ark at Eight addresses the question of faith in God, a question that is repeatedly relevant not only for children. The author is aided in his search for God by his characters - the penguins. With their naivety - perhaps comparable to that of children - they approach the questions of faith and thereby find simple and convincing answers time and again. Ulrich Hub's play is fun and it is clever." In "Nathan's Children," his adaptation of Lessing's famous classic for children and young people, Ulrich Hub places the younger generation, Nathan's foster daughter Recha and the knight Kurt, at the center of the action. Transcending all religious conventions, the two fall in love and therefore fight for understanding and peace between religions. For "Nathan's Children," Ulrich Hub received the Mülheim Children's Play Prize in 2010 for a text "that tells a reinterpretation of Lessing's material for the present in outstanding linguistic quality," as stated in the justification.
