Product details
This work is dedicated to one of the most imaginative and linguistically powerful prose works of the interwar period. The author attempts a detailed structural-analytical exploration of this largely unknown novel of late expressionism, which, like few other works by Döblin, is characterized by its experimental nature. The common goal of the individual interpretative contributions regarding text genesis, narrative form, and imagery is to illuminate the inherent poetics of the novel by determining the macro- and microstructural compositional principles, thereby measuring the intellectual breadth of the epic worldview.
