Product details
In medieval Spain during the Inquisition, Christ appears. Although he does not speak a word, he is recognized by the people. He heals and performs miracles until he is arrested and summoned for questioning by the Grand Inquisitor. The old man accuses Jesus of disturbing the order of the Church by his presence on Earth and charges him with robbing humanity of its illusion of happiness and freedom. Yet Jesus remains silent. This legend is part of Dostoevsky's last novel, "The Brothers Karamazov." Here, he articulates his critique of the institution of the Roman Church as an embodiment of worldly power.
