Product details

This book deals intensively with the conditions and possibilities regarding source research, genealogical research approaches and their requirements, as well as name research and, to a lesser extent, heraldic research in general. The content primarily focuses on readers whose ancestors, or even they themselves, were settled or resided in the residential areas of Germans in Poland. The book aims to assist researchers in overcoming various difficulties that may arise. For this purpose, alongside textual explanations in various languages such as Latin, Polish, English, and Russian, there are example illustrations of marriage, death, and birth certificates in Polish, Latin, and German, as well as birth, baptism, marriage, and death entries derived from transcripts of various church registers and church books. This results in a multitude of illustrative documents, complemented by valuable information and translations regarding causes of death, etc. Furthermore, there are many remarkably detailed helpful details, practical translations, extensive descriptions, explanations, and listings of Polish names. Not to be forgotten are the addresses of church archives, state archives, and other private and governmental institutions. The author also engages with the history of the Polish nobility and its coats of arms. For this group, references to state archives and research opportunities are also provided. Even formatted templates for inquiries allow users to contact civil registries, state archives, or church communities without needing to master the Polish language, even to a minimal extent. This guide has created a small milestone for private ancestry and family research.
