He grew up in Täby and attended Tibble Gymnasium, where he was trained in acting and singing. Wilson began his acting career in theater and was already performing in productions at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm during his school years. He starred in musicals such as Grease, West Side Story, and Lars Norén's Details. In 2003, the 1.70-meter tall actor made his film debut at the age of twenty-two under the direction of Mikael Håfström in the drama Evil, which is based on the autobiography of writer Jan Guillou.
