Andy Bowen (February 5, 1864, in New Orleans; December 15, 1894, there) was an American boxer. He fought Jack Burke on April 6/7, 1893, in the longest boxing match in history. After being knocked down in a fight against George Lavigne, he died a few hours later. Bowen's death led to a decline in boxing matches in New Orleans. Andy Bowen was born on February 5, 1864. He worked as a blacksmith and in the cotton fields. In his youth, he also handled bananas while working near the levee.
