The handbook introduces central concepts, theories, themes, and problem areas of animal ethics. In addition to the history of animal ethics, relevant concepts and theories, as well as a range of different application contexts, it also presents animal philosophy and its key questions. Furthermore, the handbook aims to comprehensively present the perspectives of animal ethics that are emerging in current discussions and controversies. The goal of the handbook is to reflect the broad spectrum of substantive and conceptual aspects of historical and contemporary animal ethics and to provide insight into the current state of discussion.
