Anja Charlet (September 2, 1967, in Freital; born Anja Wolf) is a German journalist and television presenter. After completing an internship in 1986/87 at East German television in Berlin-Adlershof, Anja Charlet studied at the Journalism Department of the Karl Marx University in Leipzig. From 1991, she worked for newspapers and in radio. Starting in 1992, she served as a reporter and presenter for the private news channel n-tv and the public broadcasters MDR and SFB. In 1994, she hosted the newly established tabloid magazine Brisant for ARD. On January 1, 1995, she moved to ZDF, where she became the co-presenter of the heute-journal, succeeding Nina Ruge. After six years as a presenter at ZDF, Anja Charlet was offered the role of host for the late-night edition of heute. On February 5, 2001, she hosted the show heute nacht for the first time, succeeding Marietta Slomka.
