Anja Domres, born on September 19, 1963, in Osnabrück, is a German politician of the SPD and a member of the Hamburg Parliament. After graduating from high school in 1984, she studied law in Münster and Hamburg. She passed her first state examination in law in 1993 and her second in 2005. Afterwards, she worked as a caseworker at the Social Welfare Office in Barmbek-Uhlenhorst. Later, she moved to the Hamburg Finance Authority in the Department of Administrative Reform, where she co-developed the concept for social service centers. In 2007, Anja Domres took over the management of the Department of Basic Security and Social Services at the Altona District Office. Since August 2010, she has been the head of the Hamburg Benefits Office.
