Anna Ahrens (October 5, 1871, in Riede, now part of the Samtgemeinde Thedinghausen in Lower Saxony; March 25, 1960, there) was a Low German regional poet. The Anna Ahrens paths in Riede and Syke are named after her. Anna Ahrens spent her childhood in Riede, where her parents operated a mill. After attending school, she completed training as a nurse at the external stations of the Hanoverian Henriettenstift. She then worked for twelve years as a community nurse in Warstade, near the mouth of the Elbe River. In 1921, she returned to her home region and took a position as a community nurse and caregiver in the town of Syke. On October 1, 1931, she celebrated her 25th work anniversary. In the mid-1930s, she retired and devoted herself to her hobby, the Low German language. Since 1900, she had been involved in it.
