Recent history and social reality as a crumbling backdrop to our memory. The empty space is what interests photographer Anna Lehmanns-Braun (born 1968 in Berlin, lives and works in Berlin) - devoid of people, yet brimming with images of collective and personal remembrance. Only seemingly cool and distant, she bestows her subjects, which she captures exclusively in analog and in pre-existing lighting conditions, with an aura of mystery and isolation. Some situations appear almost surreal. During a trip to Poland, she stumbled upon what seemed to be an abandoned production site for carnival rides and figures for amusement parks. Production still takes place here today, although a large part of the inventory is rotting away. Beneath a highly toxic layer of fiberglass dust, "Laurel and Hardy" join pigs, angels, and wild animals.
