Anna Swelund (sometimes also spelled Anna Swelung) has become a cult figure in the online community. She is a fictional character who is said to have worked as a sales manager at Nokia, Ericsson, or another mobile phone manufacturer. Since around 2000, chain emails have circulated on the internet from time to time, claiming that the aforementioned company is giving away mobile phones. This is supposedly happening because a competing company is doing the same - in order to become more well-known, they want to follow suit. The recipient is urged in the emails to forward the email to a specific minimum number of people and to send a copy of this email to Anna Swelund.
