Anne Kolb, born on September 15, 1964, in Sindelfingen, is a German ancient historian. She studied Ancient History, Classical Archaeology, and Classical Philology at the universities of Heidelberg and Oxford from 1984 to 1992. In 1992, she received her doctorate in Heidelberg, with her dissertation titled "The Imperial Construction Administration in the City of Rome: History and Structure of the cura operum publicorum under the Principate." In 1994 and 1995, she received research grants from the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, which supported her stays at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg and in Rome. In 1995, Kolb initially became an assistant and later a senior assistant at the universities of Basel and Zurich. The topic of her habilitation, completed in Zurich in 2000, was "Transport and Communication Transfer in the Roman Empire." In 2001, she became an assistant professor of Ancient History in Zurich, and in 2005, she was appointed a full professor there.
