The midfielder is under contract with the Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg. Brendel began her career at the age of seven with SV Merkur Volkstedt. Her next stops were Rot-Weiss Polleben and MSV Hettstedt. With special permission from the DFB, she was supposed to be allowed to play with the male B-youth team at MSV. However, this was rejected by the Saxony-Anhalt Football Association. Subsequently, Brendel moved to Böllberger SV and in 2000 to 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam.
